Relevant Coursework:

As an English major, I have often grappled with the employability of my major. Since being a teacher is not my current goal, I sought out classes I believed would offer me marketable skills in the workforce. With the trajectory of the world, digital rhetoric and technical communication are highly transferable abilities to acquire. During my studies, I have learned valuable things like the importance of usability and accessiblity within the world of digital rhetoric. Studying these topics have not only aided my future career, but have greatly benefitted me currently as I work for NC State Student Media.

My most significant work experience throughout my education has been my involvement with NC State Student Media. I am currently the editor-in-chief of Agromeck, NC State's official yearbook. We are the oldest and most award-winning student publication on campus. I have been a member of the organization since 2018 and previously served as a staff designer and the design editor before assuming the position of editor-in-chief in 2020.

Goals

After graduation, I plan to pursue graduate school to obtain a degree in library and information science. I strive to work in the library and information field with a focus on education and media. My education in English and literature have equipped me with the dexterity to work in these fields. The language, writing and rhetoric concentration of my major has provided useful knowledge in technical communication and a grasp of the English language needed to excel in this field. My minor in literature has supplied a sturdy education of the literary canon I will make use of as a librarian.
